🚨 REQUIRED: Rapid Tag for Evacuation Area Re-Entry

A Rapid Tag is required to re-enter evacuated areas. The pickup location has been moved from the shelter to the following sites:

  • Wednesday (10/15), 8 AM – 4 PM: Vallecito Marina – 14772 CR 501, Bayfield, CO 81122
  • Thursday (10/16), 8 AM – 12 PM: Vallecito Community Center – 17252 CR 501, Bayfield, CO 81122
  • Friday (10/17), 8 AM – 12 PM: Vallecito Community Center – 17252 CR 501, Bayfield, CO 81122

Financial & Food Assistance

La Plata County Department of Human Services

Apply for Food Assistance, Medical Assistance, and limited Financial Assistance. Call La Plata County Department of Human Services: 970-385-6150

  • SNAP (Food Replacement): Individuals currently on SNAP must contact DHS within 10 days of the loss (due to flooding/evacuations) to request replacement benefits for lost food. Call 970-382-6150 x0 or visit 10 Burnett Court, Durango.
  • TANF (Disaster Cash Assistance): Families directly impacted by flooding (Grimes and Vallecito Creeks) may be eligible for up to $2,000 in Disaster Cash Assistance.
    • Eligibility includes: Household income of $75,000 (gross) or less, residing in the impacted area, having dependent children or being pregnant, and being legally present in the U.S.
